welcome! to the unofficial marikinonline4 fan wiki

MARIKINonline4 is a freeware RPG produced by Axez and made using the RPG Maker VX Ace engine, which has obtained a small cult following for its unique characters and interesting story. The game is currently distributed only in Japanese, and can be found at marikinonline4.com, along with more information about the game and its setting. My goal in creating this fansite is to make it easier for English-speaking players to understand the game, its characters, and its mechanics.
Much of the information on this wiki is mirrored and translated from an existing Japanese wiki for the game, as well as the official website. All credit for this borrowed information goes to the original editors. I will do my best to credit what I borrow, in cases where the information is not directly ripped from the actual game. I will also be providing the original Japanese text for things like place names, item names, enemy names and the like, to make it easier to determine what is being referred to.
I hope that this website makes it easier and more entertaining to play MO4, despite the inherent language barrier. Please refer to the game's guidelines, which I have mirrored some key points of below for convenience. Below this is a setup guide with some resources.
Note that I am using more common English romanizations of the character names. Some characters have different official romanizations, but as they are often confusing (e.g. Koritora vs Cooletla) I am just going to use the ones that I personally prefer.

prohibited material

please read the guidelines in full before playing!

  • Gameplay, fan works, and contacting the creator are prohibited for those who do not agree with the guidelines or the disclaimer at the start of the game.
  • Selling fan works of any kind or profiting off the game in any way is not allowed, including monetized videos. Non-profit goods production and fan works are permitted.
  • Do not contact the models of the characters or people involved with Mo4 through music, etc. with questions about the game.
  • Do not create original characters based on the game, its setting, or the numa characters. Fan characters are entirely disallowed.
  • Do not redistribute the previous games "MARIKINonline2" and "MARIKINonline3". Additionally, story elements of these games that are not depicted in MO4 are not canon.
  • Do not create fan works that create confusion surrounding the game's identity and contents, such as (but not limited to) works confusing MO4 characters with original characters.
  • Do not create hateful or harassing fan works, or anything going against public order and morals. Use common sense.
  • Do not claim other people's fan works or personal rights as your own.
  • Do not extract images, audio, or other materials from the game for any purpose, and do not redistribute them by any means.
  • Do not redistribute the game files, and do not make modifications to the game.

The Japanese wiki contains examples of unofficial, non-canon common depictions which should be addressed with caution. My primary suggestion is to please play the damn game, and do your best to understand the story and characters as they are canonically portrayed.

setup guide

My personal recommendation is to learn basic Japanese (hiragana+katakana, basic grammar and sentence structure), as it will make it far easier to understand things like item names, menu options, and being able to tell when Deepl shits itself and spits out something completely unrelated to your input. Personally, I used the Google Translate app's camera scan feature to extract the raw Japanese text from the game, fixed any errors in the scanned text with a Japanese handwriting keyboard on my phone, then pasted the text into Deepl to translate it. I believe this is the most efficient and accurate way to play the game if you don't speak Japanese, though again it helps a lot to actually know what you're looking at and how the sentences fit together even if you don't know all the words. Please note that you're going to have to edit out Bachikin's verbal tic from pretty much all of her dialogue, or risk incorrect/unrelated translations.
